old iphone wifi problem

I gave my friend my old IPhone when I got the new one and the whole time I had it, the wifi worked fine, but now when he goes to try and use it, it either: never finds anything to connect to or it finds the network but then once he opens safari it drops back to edge.

He tried:
-resetting network settings
-syncing phone all over again
-turning phone on and off a lot
-turning airplane mode on and off
-restoring phone
-resetting all settings

We're about ready to just take it to the at&t store but first we want to see if anyone on here has had this problem and knows how to fix it.

I'm having this same issue. Many people on the apple discussion forums are having this problem too.

I took my phone to the apple store they pretty much say get f*cked the phone is not under warranty and to buy a new phone. LOL What a joke since the phone working perfectly fine before the 2.0.1 update.
