How do you sync your mail? Through MobileMe? Exchange Push? Or POP/IMAP?

If you use POP, yes, only unread mail will be downloaded to your iPhone (unless you configure your mail server to leave read mail on the server). Other methods will synchronize your entire mailbox with the iPhone, meaning you'll get everything.

I believe Comcast only allows POP access, so yes, I'd say it is POP. It means your POP account is configured to leave your read mail on the mail server. To change that, you'll need to go to the e-mail account settings menu from your Outlook and uncheck the option that says "leave mail on the server" or something to that effect.

One potential issue with that is, once you've read a certain message on your iPhone, the same message will not show up on Outlook, effectively meaning your mail messages will be saved separately on your Outlook folder and your iPhone depending on which tool you used to read them. If you don't want that, you should not change the current account settings.
