Artists view shows songs?

I have a second gen Nano and decided to reset it due to some Nike + Ipod problems I was having. I've loaded my first CD onto the playlist which works fine. When I view the artists on my Nano it displays all of the individual songs from the CD and not the artist of the CD. Any reason why it's doing this?

Playlists on the iPod do not list the artist names (except on the Classic and 3rd gen Nano).

I wasn't referring to the playlist. At the main menu on my Nano under Artists all of the songs I just downloaded from my CD show under the Artist menu option.

Are your songs tagged properly with Artist and Album names? Sounds like you're missing something, or perhaps you're referring to cases where you only have one album by an artist, in which case the display from the Artist menu will skip the Album and go right to the songs.
