I'm serioulsy thinking of buying the iPhone 3G but I'm still not sure because of the GPS. Is the iPhone 3G GPS any good? Are there
1.) Turn by turn directions?
2.) Live traffic?

no turn by turn but you can turn on traffic. Traffic is for the freeways, not side streets

The GPS seems as good or better than my TmTom 720. As for turn by turn, don't hold your breath.

I've heard turn by turn will be added but it's unclear whether apple will release or a 3rd party appliation.

Yes, it's been rumored that the iPhone 2.1.x update will have turn-by-turn natively by Apple and will come with the Push Notification Server. From the June keynote, Apple said that the Push Notification Server will come in September so if this is true, then the 2.1 update should come in September or by the end of September...

Only then will we truly know if it comes with Turn-by-Turn directions (or maybe something will be leaked.)
