Hey

I love my 1st gen iPhone. My circumstances dictate that I need a pay-as-you-go contract (no subscription). However, that plan means I pay a LOT for data transfer via EDGE.

I like using the features of my iPhone when connected to a wifi network, but I want to make it stop connecting to EDGE and eating up my credit.

Is this possible?

Cheers

Tom

Well, there isn't currently a way to do this. With a jailbroken phone the application "services" would allow you to turn off edge data connections, but I found it to be highly unreliable.

The easiest fix for your situation would be to turn the phone into airplane mode, then manually turn on the Wi-Fi. This will turn off all gsm radios, bluetooth, et al save for the Wi-Fi.

Be advised, you will obviously be unable to make or receive phone calls while the phone is in airplane mode.
