There's no setting. All you have to do is plug in your headphones, and you're good to go. If music doesn't come out from the ear pieces, chances are that your iPhone has a faulty headphone jack, which fails to detect the presence of headphones. Which particular headphones are you using?

Well thats a bummer,

I'm currently using the earphones that had came with the IPhone 3G itself.

Any possible solution(s)?

Your best bet is to return to Apple.

Recommendations before that:
1. Try resetting your ipod by turning it off then on. Hold the menu button and the sleep button for a few seconds (I think it might be like 5), then press one of the buttons again.
2. Try another set of earphones. Your earbuds may be faulty... but I don't think it likely.
3. Try resetting your iphone through Itunes. There's a button for it when you plug it in.

At this point, I would call Apple and discuss options with returning or repair. It should obviously still be under warranty. Don't get stuck with a faulty product, and don't wait (people like me always put it off, then wind up stuck with a gimpy product).

I'd second that. I've read a post on a Japanese iPhone forum that said the poster's iPhone toggled between the headphone mode and the speaker mode for no apparent reason, and that resetting the iPhone had fixed the problem.

Sometimes the volume for the ear phones can get turned down by accident. Before you go to return it as defective, try turning up the volume with the hard buttons. If that doesn't work, then take it back.
