hi!
well, i really wanna sort my itunes music library a frankly different way than itunes lets me, and after searching a while on your site without finding something that lets me sort it the way i want it, i came here.
see, i wanna sort it the 'artist -> release year of album -> album'.
i mean, either im just too stupid to find the appropriate button in itunes or the perfect script here on doug's, but im just giving up.
can someone tell me a script that lets me do this, or at least could tell me how i could script this sorting option myself?
much thanks in advance!
till then,
alex.

Not gonna happen. But no problem ;-) iTunes doesn't do "nested" sorts (with one exception), and scripting couldn''t manipulate them even if it did. But, that exception is just what you want, I'm thinkin'...

If you don't have an "Album" column in your display, right-click in the column headers and select "Album" from the lenghty popup menu. Now click the Album column header, anywhere but on the "sort direction" arrow -- you should see the header cycle between Album, then Album by Artist, and then Album by Year. This last one is actually Album by Artist by Year, and should give you what you want.

You can also use the Grouping field. Enter the info in that order, and you can sort that column.
