I have a 6 year old and 9 year old with new nanos and the headphones from apple are too big. Any recommendations in the <$30 range?:)

I would just get them an inexpensive pair of headphones from Walmart. A lot of kids have a hard time with the earbuds staying in their ears even if they do fit. Kids will have an easier time with headphones that they can adjust the size and that fit on their ear rather than earphones that go in the ear.

then try and get your hands ona pair of Sennheiser PX30 or PX 40. Try ebay, they'll do the job.

Anything that goes over the ear would be smart because less chance of breakage or so it would seem and plus less chance of losing them.
