Audiobook does not play since firmware 2 upgrade on gen 1 iPhone

Hi, i upgraded to the latest firmware, and now a 20 hours .m4b audiobook i had no longer plays. It looks like its trying to play for about 6 seconds, then the screen returns to song selection screen. Another shorter audiobook i have still works fine.
I tried re-syncing, also tried deleting the audiobook and syncing, adding it back in and syncing, but to no avail.

Anyone have any ideas please?

Just as an FYI, I just got off of the phone with Apple Tech Support, and they made me do a full run around that took two hours just to end up in the same position. To recap:

My iPhone played my audiobooks just fine in the 1.x version of the firmware

I am not sure, but it might be related to audiobook size. Books that seem less than five hours long seem to still work


All of my Audible books still work. Only my home grown ones are trashed.

Apple had me restore my iPhone from scratch (I.E. reinstall my firmware, and not restore from backup. Recreate all of my settings). They had me delete my sync history and resync (which I thought was only about calendar and contact stuff, but hey, they are tech support). They had me copy the audiobook off of the computer, delete the file completely from iTunes, and reinstall the song. All of these things failed to work. Apple's last suggestion was to try and re-rip and convert all of my audiobooks (which aint happening).

If anybody else has any insite, or is experiencing this also, please post here. Apple "says" that they have no record of anybody else complaining about this to tech support. If we want this fixed in 2.1, we need to be vocal.

Thanks for posting Druce, i am amazed this bug hasn't received more attention, i guess not many people use their iPhones to listen to long audiobooks.
