I got mine yesterday from the Apple store in Baton Rouge, LA. My timeing may have just been luck, but they said they just got them in before store opening. All models. Store opened at 10:00 am...i got there at 10:15....and the line was only 5 people. Yes, this is a newer store in the most popular mall in the state...so i was surprised by the short line.

Long story, short, the stores get them in almost daily...at least 50. the website availability check, only tells you what they have at closing time. The 50 or so iphones usually sell out within 2-3 hrs. So, give the Apple store a shot.....if they dont have them, come back later.

I live in Connecticut. I checked apple site the night before I went which is the 18th and it showed that they will have 16gb and 8gb white model only. Color doesn't matter to me as long as they're 16gb because I will put it in a case anyway.
I went there around 10:00AM and there were about 50 poeple standing inline and I just left.
I want the phone but I just hate standing in line.

I went back again around 4:00PM and there were no line and thought that they must have sold out all their phones. I went and ask anyway and the kid said yeah we only have 16GB white and I told him perfect. I want one.

The whole activation process took about 15 minutes or may be less. He swipes my card and all my info shows up including my email address, all I have to do is just sign and enter my social security numbers (that's kind of scary of how easy it is to get your personal info).
Picked the plan I want and I'm done. Pretty much walked in and walked out.

Now I need a neck massage cause I can't stop playing with it. My co-workers are all jealous cause I have cooler toy. It's so worth it. I wish it was 32gb.

i got the usual 16gb, black. i was very tempted by the white...very....it is more unique and since mine is now in a case...you cant tell the color anyway.
