Good article on how there are bugs & lag issues with the 2.0 software. I definitely notice a lag when I open up my contacts... sometime it takes 5 seconds before I can scroll, sometimes I have to hit the home button and then go back into contacts before I can scroll. Hopefully they'll fix these issues soon.

I've been playing with 20 or 30 of the free apps on my g3 and have had about 5 or6 crash and reboots in the last week. The lags seem to be getting better somehow.

I can't handle the keyboard lag in the mail apps, and the crashing, and the lag in the phone contacts. I feel good and bad at the same time. Apple came out with this wonderful software but it doesn't work right. The iPhone doesn't fee like the iPhone. Please apple fix this soon!

I've noticed the lag. I wondered if it was due to the fact that the iPhone needs to sync contacts with either MobileMe or Exchange, but it looks more like a bug now. I hope the next firmware update will address this issue.

I don't necessarily think the lag is due to the 2.0 software, more of "user error" in a way. People download all these applications from the app store, open them all up, and think that tapping the home button quits them. However, you need to hold the home button for a few seconds until the application quits. If you don't do that, you just end up with 10 applications running in the background, which is taking up CPU power, and clogging up the RAM. Although some of the actually applications are buggy, you can't expect to run every application you want at once in the background. It's the same as with a computer, run too many applications and you're gonna crash.

Thats the sure-fire way to kill a hanging / bugged out app but the home button is MEANT to quit the app.

The whole point of the OS is that there are NO background apps except the apple inbuilt services.

The lag I am pretty certain is down to things like memory leaks and 2.0 problems.... i'm confident that the smooth performing OS will return with 2.0.x

I've never heard of this. Where did you find this info? I thought taping the Home button closed the app.

Yes, that information is incorrect. Hitting the home button quits the application. Now, there are cases where an application stays in memory and causes problems even after returning to the home screen, but that only happens when there's an error. Many of the applications on the App store are 1.0 and that means that there's a good chance that some of them are buggy. It's a good idea to reboot the iPhone when things get slow because some of that slowness may be happening because apps refuse to unload when the home button is pressed, but that's not how the iPhone OS is supposed to work. When you hit Home, the application quits normally.

Me too.. amazing what some people believe and post.

The OS is very buggy. I'm looking forward to 2.0.1.
