Hi,
is anybody else having problem with wifi recpetion?
It seems as if the 2G iPhone has a better range than the 3G.
Anybody else?

Gizmodo reported the opposite- that 3G had about 20% greater range, possibly due to the new plastic back.

Mine seems to be the same if not better.

Reports are one thing, real world experience another.
Doesn't really help if Gizmodo says this when in fact it isn't, now does it?

This was the real world experience of the Gizmodo reviewer. I don't see how it is any less valid than anyone else's real world experience. In fact it is probably more valid since he intentionally set out to measure wifi reception on the 3G (120 feet) vs the original (100 feet). Excuse me for trying to answer your question.

Well you didn't answer the question did you?
Whoop-dee whoo, as if I didn't read the gizmodo review either... ('sif it's a reliable site to quote anyways)
That's why I was so surprised that the recpetion is worse on the 3G.
Anything constructive you have to say deftdrummer? Hope the rest of your 1k+ posts aren't as worthless as this one.

YMMV... isn't that all there is to it?

I reckon so.
So people are getting better reception with the 3G iPhone when it comes to wifi?
Because it's not the case with me.

For me it's as good or better. My old device is an iPod touch instead of an iPhone 2G, but the comparison shoudl still be valid since the iPod touch and the iPhone 2G share the same WiFi components.

To be honest I haven't really noticed. I can still get a Wi-Fi signal all over the house. No need to give WCASD a hard time, it just doesn't work as well for him, for others it works better, just because Gizmodo says so doesn't mean WCASD is wrong.

I agree with kyussmondo. That's why I said YMMV. :-) There's just too many variables surrounding WiFi to draw universally meaningful conclusions.

Bummer...
Guess nobody is having the same problems then.
Anywho thanks for the replies!

seems to be the same (2g vs3g) to me on my home network.
I have the same problem that you are having. With my iPhone 3G I can't get Wifi in my bedroom, I used to get Wifi in my bedroom all the time with my First Gen iPhone, so I think that in my experience, the 1st gen iPhone had a much better Wifi reception.
