I was trying to make a post to make a sale using the iphone, I was able to do all the text fields and upload an image. But when it came to confirm using the CAPTCHA utility where you have to type 2 words displayed in a funky looking box, it doesn't seem to work. Anyone know if the CAPTCHA thing works on the iphone browser?
Thanks in advance.

CAPTCHA verifiers are just a "form" like any other (no special "utility" involved): a picture is displayed, and you type what you see into a text field located near the picture. Were you unable to get a cursor inserted in the text field, or typing in the field didn't stick, or what?

Hi and thanks for your response! :)
Actually everything works through until I submit ( entering the text that the graphics show ), but it keeps saying it is incorrect.
So since I am new to the iphone I was wondering, is it the website ( In this case, craigslist ) or is it a limitation on the iphone to use forms with CAPTCHA on it?
I figure if I heard that others have used CAPTCHA forms successfully on the iphone that the trouble would be with the web site itself.

Also, make sure the info you're providing -- other than the CAPTCHA -- meets the CL standard -- in many areas, CL is now asking for a landline phone number; cell numbers may be disregarded (a major crackdown on spammers).
I believe that Craigslist uses reCAPTCHA (http://recaptcha.net/) these days which I also use that on some of the sites that I develop. I just had Bob test it with an iPod touch and it works just fine on one of my sites. I guess that either there's a problem somewhere else on CL then, or it's an iPhone or cell network specific problem. I'll see if I can track down someone with an iPhone and report back.

Thanks but rest-assured I had typed it in verbatim at least a dozen times being extremely meticulous.

I've thought of that , but in my test posts , to ascertain that it goes through, I did not use any phone numbers.

Thank you! That would be very helpful indeed!

Just had a friend test it using an iPhone over EDGE and reCAPTCHA worked just fine. It must be a problem with CL or the way you are entering the data then...
