My parents both upgraded to 3G's, so I got one of their original iPhone's (finally can sell my iPod Video and Motorola KRZR). There are a couple things though that I can't seem to figure out though:

1) When playing music, where do I see song length? Or on the iPod, you could press the center button twice to switch to being able to move to anywhere in the song with the click wheel. I used that constantly but can't seem to find it in the iPhone.

2) Where's the option to set the screen so it doesn't take so freaking long to dim? I prefer it to dim in like, 5 seconds of inactivity. Is there an app that offers some options?

3) Is there any sort of option in iTunes to customize what songs randomly go onto the iPhone? I've got the 8GB and it's really limiting to me versus my iPod Video, which had enough room for all my music. I was thinking maybe I could make it so it synced with priority to more played music or something.

Well, any help would be great. Thanks :)

Tap the album art to show a progress bar that includes total time and allows you to scrub the track.

Settings -> General. But you're out of luck. 1 minute is the shortest of the options.

Set up a playlist that conforms to whatever criteria you choose. Most played, highest rated, least played... whatever you like. Then, when iPhone is plugged in, go to the Music tab and set it to sync only checked playlists. Check your playlist and you're off to the races.

Thanks for the response :). The thing I am most concerned about now though is the light. Anybody at all know of an app that can help out with this?

[EDIT: Also, is there a "select all" (for deletion) feature in Mail?]

josh I'm not really sure what you mean by "the light" as being a problem. Also, there currently isn't an option to select all within email. This option isn't even available on the gmail mobile version which is really annoying.

My bad, I meant the backlight.

just play your playlist or what ever songs you are listening too and then click the button on the top right of the phone.. it turns the light off.. and locks it so you can throw it in your pocket and go
