Alright, guys I just got off the phone with a Apple tech. He said that they are currently working on a update fix of 2.0. Everyone that downloaded it has to call when the update comes out. The update fix will come out in 1-2 weeks.
- Please wait, and don't download 2.0 wait for the updated verison.
The problem was that iTunes and the 2.0 patch came out the same day and the 2.0 patch wasn't fully compatible with iTunes . Which, caused wifi connection loss, lack of apps not working and more problems that were addressed.
So, they are developing a new 2.0 that will be compatible with iTunes and should work flawlessly. ;)

Well, that's a relief. I just spent an hour + to downgrade to 1.1.4! 2.0 was unbearable for me. It was slow, it drained my battery, everything was not smooth, and on the wikipedia page, every time I type a letter, the screen would jump back and forth between zoomed in and zoomed out, was that dizzying! I liked the remote app, but the fact that I can't use a giftcard to buy apps in iTunes up here in Canada, that was stupid. This is what I get for jumping on the bandwagon the first day it comes out eh? And, you'd think apple would have tested iTunes 7.7 with 2.0 before releasing it.

yeah the problem was they were both released worldwide daily and everyone download them server crashed and files got damaged etc.

I haven't had any issues but the battery does seem to drain faster. The wifi and iTunes 7.7 have not given me any problems. Are there specific issues in specific areas of itunes that I might not be doing yet?

Yeah...the battery definitely drains faster than previously. Hopefully it's a leak of some sort that can be rectified. I can only get one days worth now...before I could get two no problem.

So--if you buy a Touch after the fix is available, let's assume in 2-3 weeks, do you then install 2.0 and then call for the fix, or will it be part of 2.0 at that time ?

by that time, the new 2.0 will be launched to download. =)
The people that need to call iTouch for the update is basically to replace the previous update so they didn't waste their money.

It is going to be via iTunes, it's just that they are going to return the $10 previous update and use it on the new fixed update. So you need to call them first =)
I'll keep you guys more updated on this *** The Agent said he'll call me to tell me the progress of the update ***

This doesn't sound right at all. I suspect there will be a 2.0.1 or 2.1 update, but it'll be pushed out via iTunes and it'll be free to anyone who has 2.0 already. This is the way Apple has always done it and I don't see them changing it now.

Its possible that Apple is in panic mode after the disastrous release that was the 2.0 iPod firmware. Maybe they think they found a way to legitimately charge people for it this time.

Other than the busy server problems, what was the big problem with the update? I got in no problem on Saturday morning, paid my money, and installed the 2.0 software. I've experienced at least one crash daily, from different apps, and some of the UI is slower than before so there's obviously some tweaking to be done. But otherwise, it's been just fine.

once you pay for 2.0 update from now, you won't have to recharge it. it will be just another. so just connect with itunes, update.

Looks to me that the guy you spoke with on the phone was either in panic mode, was a novice who didn't know what he was talking about, or both. It just doesn't make sense that we will need to call Apple to get a fixed version of 2.0. As someone stated above, any fix they made to the iPod software should be available via iTunes. :)

Besides, I am curious what problems they needed to address so quickly. I've had no problem whatsoever with the 2.0 firmware except for the quicker battery drain.

Ok... I haven't been on the boards for a week or so, but that just sounds like rubbish. It will be 2.0.1. as all OS X updates are called. a third dot update is a bug-fix only generally, or a support update (making sure it supports new Apple technology)

Imagine the amount of people who've already updated that would overload email addresses or phone centres.

Yes, fielding calls would be waaaay more trouble and money than Apple would put up. It will be a point release through iTunes and it will probably happen in the not to distant future as is the case with nearly any software that releases a new full version update.
