Traveling to Europe soon. Photography oriented trip. Would love to use the iPod Touch to as a storage backup for photos taken. Would love to hear who has done this. How many pics you stored? Problems? I don't have the iPod Touch yet. Primary focus would be to use it for email, audiobooks, maps, photo storage back up and some music. I own an ibook G4 but won't be lugging it with me. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunately, you cannot download pictures directly from your camera to an iPod touch, so you're out of luck there. However, I used a 4G 60gb iPod photo with the iPod camera connector (http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9861G/C) to download 4.5 gb of pictures when I took a trip to Italy. If you haven't purchased a touch yet, I would consider getting an older iPod (4G color screen or 5G) with the camera connector if you need to download a lot of pictures. The camera connector is only compatible with those generations of iPods. That setup really worked well, and you may be able to find a fairly cheap 4G or 5G iPod.
My iPod photo with the camera connector was the best thing I brought with me to Italy aside from my camera. I took 1,500 pictures, and it saved me from buying a lot of extra memory cards for my camera. Maybe the money you would instead spend on extra memory cards could go to an older iPod.
