Sorry if it has already been asked....

I just upgraded my ipod touch to SW version 2.0, as expected the iPod has been completely wiped out, no music, no video no photos......so I'm wonbdering why is iTunes showing me that the available space is now 29.77 Gigs rather the 29.96 like it was when I oiginally bought my iPod touch?

Second and more important is it sayng that on my iPod there is 121.4 Megs of "other stuff"...what is it? And has anyone else seeing the same?

Thanks, Ciao,
Simone

Same here. There's clearly more data like information for security certificates, as well as many language dictionaries for the added keyboards.

At least you have a 32gb..I have 8gb. After that I have like 7.1gb left

The other stuff, in this case, is the applications that were installed along side OS 2.0. You see, OS 2.0 came with the e-mail app, Google maps, app, weather app, the notes app, and the stock app. That is why your iPod is showing 29.77 GB of free space (which is 190 MB less than your previous amount of free space) and that is also why you have 121.4 MB of other stuff instead of the usual ~30-60 MB after a restore. Also keep in mind that the app store on the iPod touch takes up additional space.

You cannot uninstall these additional app or the app store itself. Either way, you are looking at only a ~60 MB difference. Any other apps that you install will occupy the Other space as well.

Edit: Oops, I forgot that the 32GB iPod touch models came with the January app pack (notes, e-mail, stocks, and Google maps). So your space increase can be attributed to the app store, added language support, and the overall increase in OS size (OS 2.0 was noticeably bigger than previous releases by about 100MB).

I would surmise that the OS partition is mainly larger because you now can install loads of applications via the Appstore. There has to be enough room for the 10MB games and all the other stuff.
