View Full Version : Did 2.0 break Touch's manual sync?

I move between computers a lot so always use manual sync but, coming into work this morning with my (now) 2.0 Touch, the Manually Manage box was unchecked for some reason and when I go to check it, it says that "An iPhone can only be synced with one iTunes library at a time". It says it will erase and sync the Touch if I click the Manually Manage button, exactly the opposite of what it should do.
Is this a problem with the update? And is it happening to everyone who manually manages their Touch or have I just got (yet another) 7.7/2.0 bug here?
Any help would be really appreciated.

Seems I'm alone with this but I'll update it with the end of the story in case anyone else comes searching.
I bit the bullet and clicked the 'Manually Manage' button and applied the change. As expected, it did indeed wipe my iPod Touch.
However, when I brought it back to the first computer, it didn't do the same thing. It worked fine, exactly as it should. And then, bringing it to the computer that had just wiped it, it worked fine now there too.
So, in spite of what it says, it can be synced to more than one computer at a time but it seems that it needed to actively sync to both computers (and wipe it) to appear active on them. For some reason.
First, thank you very much for post a follow-up of your experience for those of us searching for an answer. I appreciate folks who find an answer and then post it. It's rare and commendable! :)
Second, thank you for the answer. I haven't wanted to let it do the manual sync for fear of losing my library or something.
(New Touch owner, too, and first Apple device.)

I have been toying with the idea of syncing my touch with my work computer but now I think ill just give it a whirl. Do u have an iTunes store account? or is this syncing just with iTunes installed and the regular audio/video syncing?
