this has happened to me 3 times now, i'll be using an app or something then the ipod will reset itself for no reason then gets stuck on the apple logo.

i'll have to put it into recovery mode and restore it to get it working again, which is a very long and tedious process because you have to resync everything back on there.

anyone else having this happen to them?

Are you shure i'ts not just rebooting? I have had some lockups with some apps as well, the screen goes black and the apple logo appears.
It takes about 2 minutes to boot up the iPod Touch again I think.

Three times? I can tell you that this has happened to me at least 10 times. I am really getting sick of restoring my iTouch over and over again. It seems to freeze and then reboot itself when an application fails to load or when I try to access the app store.

It doesn't happen to me all the time. It might go through a whole day or two without freezing on the apple logo, but I get tired of it. I have tried to let the apple logo load over night (5-6 hours) twice! I end up restoring the ipod.

This happens when you are using heavy app. I guess 2.0 is not perfect yet. Many apps can cause your ipod touch hang... hang in the sky... Hahaha... I guess they will put newer version for better performance.

I don't know if this would work for 2.0, but under 1.1.4 (jailbreak, you could use the iBrickr tool to restart your iPod Touch and get out of force restore mode WITHOUT having to restore. Saved me some time on the couple occasions I got stuck in a force restore...
