Static over car speakers

I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on lowering the amount of static that plays thru my car speakers when I listen to my iPhone thru my car. I know that you can turn on airplane mode, but then my phone is just an iPod. There are certain areas where I dont hear it at all, and certain areas where is very bad. Also when I have the phone hooked up to my car speakers and am talking to someone, there is always an echo in the other person's phone. Any advice on that? Is the new iPhone supposed to improve on the static issue?

I hope so. Are you using the phone jack or dock connector port to connect to speakers? I found less static using the phone jack, but I'd still like to see some official support for car usage.

Im using the headphone jack. Never used the dock connector. Any suggestions for the echo?
