I actually caught the UPS guy today (thank God), and refused delivery of the Ultimate Ears Metro fi. 100's I ordered. So they'll be going back to Amazon, and I'll hopefully getting a
full refund :P. I realized the night after getting them, that buying a
pair of full size headphones would probably be the better choice in
the long run. They block out noise better, and since it's not like
I work out with them on, or run around the block, etc I don't have to
worry about them falling off or anything. Now, back on topic. The
most important things I require in a pair of headphones is that, they
sound great (Even surround sound is fine, or stereo but doesn't have
distorted bass or etc) and I'd also like everything to be more spread
out when the music is playing if you will (almost as if you were in the
studio with them listening), the fit of the headphones is snug, not way
too tight, but just enough so that they fit great and if you head bang
you won't have to worry about them falling off lol. My last important thing
is that they block ambient noise passivly. So, far I've been looking into about
four pairs of headphones, and I would like everyone's input in which pair I
should possibly buy (I've already been told over on Head-Fi to check out the HD ones, since Skullcandy isn't liked on there at all really), so here they are: A) Sony MDR-XD100 Stereo Headphones, B) Skullcandy HESH headphones, or C) Sennheiser HD 201 Hi-Fi Headphones. I'll also post pictures as well of each pair.

definitely stay away from skull candy. Can I ask why you need a closed set of cans for noise blocking?

Hey man, get something real and better. :)

Here is my suggestion, Audio Technica ATH-SQ5 (http://www.warehouse123.com/ProductSearch.php?sType=1&sCat=ALL&sText=SQ5).
This baby has advantage from outlook, comfort and sound!

You are going to find many different inputs and everyone has their favorites. Personally, I would trust the Sennheiser brand as I have multiple headphones from them. axtech, I don't know how those headphones that you listed are any more real than the ones that Ryan is showing.

Anyway, I would recommend the third pair that you listed as I have them and use them as my everyday pair of headphones. They are comfortable, block out the outside noise pretty well even though they aren't noise canceling headphones, aren't very heavy, and they fit snugly enough on my head that I can headbang (no severe headbanging though, I don't think there are headphones out there that can stay on while severe headbanging) to music without them falling off.

I don't recommend the Skull Candy brand ones as they concentrate more on looks rather than sound. Not only that but you often pay a higher price just for the looks. I also don't recommend Sony branded headphones as you are basically paying for the name. Those Sennheisers that you have listed go for less than $30 online and they produce sound quality that is about as equal as $100+ Sony headphones. My roommate has a pair of Sony studio monitors (they were $120) and they actually prefer my $28 Sennheisers. They preferred them so much that they returned the Sony headphones (they were within the exchange period) and purchased the same pair of headphones that I have.

The best thing about the Sennheisers is that they are less than $30. So you can take them with you wherever you go and not worry about them getting banged up as they are only $30. I think I have spent about $2000 on headphones over the years and I have two expensive pairs (Bose TriPorts and Sure e3cs), about 2 mid-range phones, and many lower budget headphones. My Sennheisers easily produce sound quality that is at least on par (I think it is a little better) than my Bose TriPorts and almost on par with my Sure e3cs.

Go with the Sennheisers, you won't regret it.

Somebody actually said the the Senn's don't block out a lot of noise because they're open. I REALLY like the Senn x300's earbuds, but I've heard they're over powerful on bass, which, is not what I'm looking for.

From how I see it, it's relative. You won't find a single iem that has bass absolutely booming into your eardrums. The tiny drivers just won't do that. Sennheiser products have really amazing sound altogether, I think in the end you would enjoy the cx300's.

The only thing is if the bass is really that centered, the sound could get less clear just because any low frequency signal going into the phones would output out of proportion and really amplified. But the thing is sennheiser just wouldn't do that because they are a smart brand that doesn't just focus on their top end equipment and not give a crap about lower end stuff. If you don't like the bass just change it in your ipod eq, theres enough choices to pick from. I really think you would be happy with the 300's if you run out of ideas.
