View Full Version : My budget is exactly $48.95. Can anyone recommend some good IEM's?

I'd like them to not be wayyy too heavy on base, such as like how Sennheisers 300's are. I'm looking for a pair of IEM's that have everything balenced out, have great noise isolation, and a comfy fit. Thanks to anybody who can help.

I second that, but must ask why in-ears?

I've heard that in ear's block out more sound than around the ear headphones. I was looking into a pair of in ear's called iFrogz, but someone said they look just like the Skullcandy brand, even though they're "noise isolating".

Are these going to be for public transport, commuting, etc? Because closed cans do make decent sound blocks, and at your price range you could easily get a more effective pair of headphones if you stayed away from in ears.

Yes, they will be. I was actually looking into purchasing the Skullcandy FMJ's, or the Skullcandy HESH headphones, both can be found at Best Buy. But, the audio snobs over on Head-Fi hate them, and have pretty much swayed me into not getting them..lol..even though they seem good and I'm not fully swayed yet. Code Monkey on here has a pair of SC Smokin Buds, and has suggested I get the same. IMHO, the sound quality of the Apple Earbuds (the ones that come with the Ipod), have great sound quality, it's just they don't stay in very well. So, even if the quality of the FMJ's sounds like that, I'm fine with it. I just need something that provides great sound isolation. So I don't have to blow my eardrums out ;) . So, would you recommend the HESH headphones, or shall I look for something else at Best Buy?..Since the current AMX card has 0 dollars since I'm waiting for funds to be transfered back on to it. And the only thing I have left to use is this Best Buy gift card.

Stay away from skullcandy. Stay away from skullcandy. Stay away from skullcandy. Stay away from skullcandy. Stay away from skullcandy. Stay away from skullcandy.
Burn this into your brain. Their products are so crappy you would be better off with some 5$ jvc gummy's. Seriously. I'm in no way an audio snob, I just enjoy a great sound, and you can achieve this at your price point by boycotting SK. Try the ultimate ears metro.fi 2. A solid company with years of experience and many professional musicians use their higher end models.

^ Seconded. You mentioned how you didn't want earphones that were heavy on bass. Skullcandy's are notorious for having loads of it.

At your budget, you might not be able to find "true" IEM's like Shure's or Etymotics. But if you look hard enough, perhaps at a Radio Shack or online, you might find a pair of Ultimate Ears super.fi 3's. They aren't as bass heavy as their older brothers the sf5's because they're single driver, but they just might work.

Otherwise, you might want to look for JVC Marshmallows. They're not real IEM's, just canalphones, but there're pretty good for their low price. Not sure about their sound signature, you'll have to look around for that.

Wait, so now your budget increased $1.95 from last thread you made? :D Get the ultimate ears metro.fi 2 if you can increase your budget $8.03.
Listen, or read actually: do yourself a favor and stick with a trusted brand. Ultimate ears will give you sound quality, build quality, and good customer service. Your investment will be protected if you're not reckless with the headphones.
Good choice on boycotting SC.

As stated before. I cannot afford those atm. So I was looking into Jbuds, but I can't seem to find anyone that uses them/if they have balenced sound.

than save up more or buy something else because good IEM's cost money.

Or just buy closed cans. You can get great sound out of them for so much less money, they have decent isolation, and are reliable.
