I purchased V-Moda's Vibes about 3 months ago and I absolutely loved everything about it! About last month, however, the sound in the right ear went dead so I send them back to V-Moda for a different pair. 3 weeks later, I receive my replacement; about a week later, the sound in both ears were "muted" and I had to send them in for repair once more.

After doing some research on the internet, I found out that a lot of Vibes owners experienced the same issue of having the sound die in either/both ears. When they send your replacement back, it comes in a brand-new retail box and I was wondering if I should stick with V-Moda and hope my next pairs won't break, or should I try to sell them off and buy Shure's E2c?

From what I have read, dump them and get something else. It's not worth the headaches.

And don't necessarily dump them on someone else.

Talk to the company about a refund since you have had to replace twice for the same problem. You might get some refund love if you are lucky.

Get something else absolutely. I think the V-moda's sound ....o.k. and look good, but have shocking build quality problems. They dent and scratch far too easily and like you, every person i've personally known, has had to send theirs back with the same problem of driver/cable failure.

Just dump them and try another manufacturer. It's not like we don't have the

yeah, I understand. if you want to protect it, you always carry a leather bag. when you don't wear it, put it into a bag. it's what I am doing. I have no dent, scratch but perfect.

I haven't had any problems with mine. Though I will say I'm not sure they were really worth the $100 I paid for them.

My third pair of v-moda vibe duo headphones that I use with my iPhone have now failed. This is only TWO MONTHS after I received them from v-moda as a replacement unit under warranty. The previous two were both replaced by v-moda under warranty, although the first pair took two and a half months to replace and the second took a month and a half.

EDIT: I just received this response from v-moda when I grumbled to them via their site. It seems that they now acknowledge that there is a problem with the headphone jack on the vibe duo's but a replacement won't be released for a while (even though they say late August):

This new plug will be incorporated into all VIBE and VIBE Duo products and will be available soon at shop.V-MODA com. The updated products will remain compatible with the Apple iPhone, the iPod, an array of smartphones and all other portable music players.

If you would like to send your defective Vibe Duo headphones back for a warranty replacement, please keep in mind that the Vibe Duos will not be available for shipment until late August.

The replacements are out now. I just bought the new vibe duo and it has a v-shaped jack which seems like it will finally hold up. I bought them at the Apple store 2 days ago (8/25) and they just received their shipment that day. The bass is really awesome.

Alternatively, Costco has the ultimate ears metro.fi 200v on sale for $49 including shipping. I hear those are great also.

just a question, do you use wire clip? the problem with IEMs are the thin wire, if you let the more thinner wire of left and right ear carry the weight of the wire, it would stress the wire enough to break it.

this is also a problem in many earphone brands.
