On my way to the Apple store yesterday, I dropped my iPhone and cracked it. (very ironic) Since it is brokenness, and out of warranty, I don't plan on even trying to service it. I have T-mobile, and they might question as to why I don't have AT&T if I were to restore it to its regular un-hacked firmware.

SO, I plan on getting an iPhone 3G (I don't want one at all actually, because the back can be scratched easily.) I want to know if the iPhone 2.0 firmware is jailbreakable. (those who have worked with the beta perhaps might know.) Because I will be moving to France, and I will probably get Orange while I am there. (I know they sell it in France, but I don't want to spend more money in euros to get it.) And since I am going to be in the US at times, I will use T-mobile in the US. So, I don't want to have a cellphone that I can't use T-mobile on in the US, or one that I can't use Orange on in France, because it is not a French iPhone.

Will the iPhone 3G still use the 4.6 boot loader?

Also, do you guys think there will be lines that stretch around the Apple store like the launch of the first iPhone? I hope they don't sell out.

Thanks in Advance.

Needless to say, after cracking my iPhone, I have learned the purpose of using a rubber case. It would easily reduce the impact of it landing on the floor.

Kind of hard to tell you if it's able to be jailbroken when it isn't out yet.

Is it jailbreakable? That is currently being worked on.

Some versions (the early ones) of 2.0 were leaked, and they were jailbroken, but security has been tightened on the latest releases.

Its almost definite it can be, but when? We don't know yet. It will take time to find the ways to overcome security that Apple is currently implementing.
