Welcome to the lounge!

Setting up wifi on the touch is pretty easy - just go to Settings >> Wi-Fi >> Select your network (it should show up and if it doesn't there's something up with your router)

If it's password protected, then yes, the password is the WEP key.

Try it again. And again. Some of those long, random WEP passwords are easy to mistype (especially when you can't see what you typed). I know it's taken me 2 or 3 times to get it right.

Forget WEP, i've always had trouble with it using my laptop. Change your router to WEP2, and choose your own password.

I've got the same problem trying to hook up to my Sky broadband wireless router.

My access thing is WPA not WEP though?

And I thought the password for it would be the Network Key supplied by Sky when I got connected but when I type this in it denies me access (although it doesn't say that it is the wrong password).

Totally stumped, any help appreciated.

Ipod doesn't currently support wpa, use wep. Wpa support coming in the 2.0 update.

That explains why I can't get on then!

Next problem, at the risk of sounding totally stupid, how do I change from WPA to WEP?

No, there are no stupid questions. To change the setting, you should be able to login to the router by typing an ip address into the address bar in your browser. This is usually an address like 192.168.1.1. After you login then you can look around for a tab called wireless security or something to that effect and you will be able to change it.

This is NOT true. The iPod touch DOES support WPA, I have mine connected via WPA right now and have since the touch came out.

You are thinking of 802.1X, which is an enterprise wireless protocol.
