Ok, I have installed a PIE HON-AUX into the back of my Honda factory radio. I'm using a Sik cable with the line out plugged into my cigarette lighter. Most everything seems good.
But I have 2 questions for others who have modified their car, specifically like me with the HON-AUX cable and the Sik cable (or monster or belkin)
Question 1- Car is on, Charger is plugged into cigarette lighter, Ipod is NOT attached yet to charger, radio is set to CD1 Track 1 (aux) -- if I turn volume ALL the way up, I can hear what sound like electronic beeping. DO You hear this too under same circumstances? If I then attach Ipod to the charger, the beeping sound goes away.
Question 2 - Car is on, Charger is plugged into cigarette lighter, Ipod is attached to charger. Radio is set to CD1 Track 1 (aux) and is playing songs from Ipod. Now, turn your headlights on. When I put Ipod on pause or there is the quiet between songs, if the volume is turned up high, I hear a buzzing. Try it. Pause your song, have volume on your radio on high, turn lights on. Do you get buzzing too? When my lights are off, no buzzing.
Please do write back and let me know what happen to you on these 2 tests and what eqipment you are using.
PS I did't attach the ground wire on the HON-AUX because it says not to connect it if you are powering an MP3 from car (cig lighter port)

It's a bomb. RUN!!! :D
Actually, it's the radio clock. Everytime the colon marker flashes on, you hear that faint buzzing noise.
I haven't tried the headlight thing, but I'm pretty sure the same thing will happen to my setup.
BTW, I have the same setup you do: PIE HON-AUX with Sik-Imp charger plugged into car outlet.

oogle,
groovy. I never would have guess the colon flashing. i'll have to check that out.
yeh, I'm sure the light things is common, too. If you ever try out it, let me know! I like the Sik, but need to get a replacement, as part of the firewire casing came off.
As long as it's not a ground loop problem. I guess the buzz those people are talking about is rather loud and audbile.

I hear no background noise at all with my GM9-Aux in my Chevy. I did connect the ground wire and I hard wired my SiK to the fuse box through another, hidden, cigarette lighter adapter.

Well, I put my Ipod on pause and maxed out the volume. I flip the headlights on and off. No buzz. Just the usual speaker hiss from maxing out the volume. Headlights made no difference whatsoever.

i appreciate you doing that... just to clarify?
a) you using this in a honda? what make/year?
b) are you plugged into the stock cigarrette lighter while doing this?
c) are you using the line out on the Sik?
d) did you connect the grounding wire that came with the Sik? or another grounding wire? if so, how?
this should help me pinpoint things. again, thanks in advance! :)

2003 Honda Accord with Soundgate Adpater and Dension ICE-Link Cable.
First Installation: Made all the connections as instructed. With the engine idling, the sound of the iPod's hard drive accessing was heard through the stereo as a whining static noise. When I connnected the FireWire cable for power through the ICE-Link cable, the noise doubled.
Second Installation: Added a Radio Shack Ground Loop Isolator. With engine idling and revving, the noise heard from the iPod was gone. However, it returned when the FireWire was connected, but not as loud as before. But enough to be very annoying.
Troubleshooting: I tried using Dr. Bott's iPod cigarette ligher adapter in the DC power port, seperate from the ICE-Link's direct connection. Bad idea. The noise doubled once again.
My solution for now is no power for the iPod. The Ground Loop Isolator eliminated all the noise from the iPod, but I am getting noise through the power lines when I connect the FireWire.
Although I do not have the PIE Aux Adapter, it seems to be the same as the Soundgate. You should be able to eliminate your noise problem with a ground loop isolator. I don't have any noise while the engine is running, or when the lights are on. I am still trying to solve my power problem.

a) 2004 Civic Hybrid
b) Yep
c) Yep
d) Did not connect it. No grounding at all. Since the wire was just dangling, I just wrapped it around HON-AUX cable connecting to the head unit and taped it.
