Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend. Quick request for help. I was walking with my new 30g iPod this weekend, and it started to drizzle. As I slid it out of the case to skip songs, a few drops splashed the front.

There are now these faint little white spots scattered on the front, and I have yet been able to rub them out with a dry cloth. Is there something I can do?

My iPod has serious vanity issues.

Have you tried... a slightly damp cloth?
Really, it won't hurt.

otherwise, check out the service, warranty, repair forum for ideas on how best to clean (remove scratches on, ...) your ipod.

i dont think you have to go as far as the "Removing scratches" and polishing, but just get those lens cleaners for glasses (the ones with alcohol on it). Those usually get rid of unwanted stuff easily and just wipe it lightly so it doesnt scratch the screen.

i wasn?t talking about waterspots. there may be users reading this, who have scratches on their screen. just a pointer to the service warranty... section.

in fact, i?m moving this there, since that?s where it belongs! :)

Hey guys, what's going on? Thanks for the input so far. The little spots are weird; they refuse to come off. I have tried a damp cloth and a cloth with a bit of Windex, rubbing gently both times.

I have this spray for cleaning laptop screens at home, I'm going to try that when I get in tonight. The spots are on both the screen and the white area of the case, so we'll see what happens.

Has anyone actually heard or seen of this kind of thing? I know it was just a few drops of rain that spattered on it.

Thanks again guys.

It was probably jet fuel...or acid rain. :-)

I have a call out to all the major airlines, asking if there were any leaky planes over the greater Boston area last weekend.

I'll keep everyone posted.

In the meantime, anyone have any good cleaner recommendations for this situation?

Thanks everyone.

try ipodcleaner or brasso (careful with brasso. it?s a metal cleaner, so use with care. does it?s job well, when used moderately).

Hey everyone

I just received iCleaner in the mail. While it does make my iPod shining as a anything, it still did not get out the water spots on either the screen or the housing of the unit.

Any more ideas? This is really starting to bug me.

Thanks!

apply the iCleaner a couple more times...maybe the acid rain produced some chemical reaction with the plastic?
