Bought new 32gb Touch last Friday.

So far it's only been through approximatey 3-4 full charge cycles.

Did a test over the last couple of days: left music playing continuously- kept hitting home screen every hour or so to check on battery level. Also used wifi for approx 20 minutes to check e-mails (apart from that, wifi was turned off) Got a total of approx 19 hours. Does this sound about right?

It seems that as soon as the wifi is enabled (and worse still if you use safari) the battery meter drops pretty rapidly!

I have to say that the Touch is AWESOME!!!! Trouble is- all the features I use the most involve the wifi, and that hammers the battery- guess I'll be charging it every day!

Regards,
Ian

Not a touch user but anything like that will give the battery a big hit. Don't worry about charging it every day even if you don't use a lot of battery; I top up my iPod video daily jut so keep it in good condition.

It should play for about 24 hours without wifi, so your time seems good.

That seems pretty good.
Wifi certainly drains the battery big style.

The iPod touch is drained the most by wi-fi and its screen. So, when playing music, you need to minimize the amount of time that the screen and wi-fi adapter are on. I can get about 23-25 hours of playback using my iPod touch just to play music with a playlist and turning the screen on once every 1-3 hours to check the battery meter. I can also get about 7 hours of video playback out of it with the backlight turned down to a little less than 50% (with wi-fi off). I can also get about 2-3 hours of internet browsing with the backlight set to 50% or all the way up.
