View Full Version : I'm sure I'm among the many doing this...

So I'm pretty happy about the 3G announcement, I don't like the whole idea of the phone coming bricked by default and then being activated and unbricked in the store, however I'm sure that will be overcome with time, and with 3G + GPS its hard to not want to swap the IPod touch for the 3G.

So to that end, here is my shameless self promotion of my exit from the IPod touch side of the game. I'm posting a link to my auction trying to get some money for my IPod Touch on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300232781704).

How many other people are going to be trying to unload and trade up? I'm willing to bet quite a few!

You're probably correct in that a lot of people will want to upgrade.

However, I'm not one of them. I'm perfectly happy with my iPod touch. It does everything that I want it to and doesn't cost me an additional ~$70 a month. :)

Part of me is with you GregMac ... however I wanted to get a GPS anyways, and I heard TomTom would be releasing a version of their GPS software for IPhone, and my cell contact is up anyways, So.... Seems pretty logical for me. However I'm sure their will also be plenty of people with touch's that are happy with them ... it really is a nicely designed product, and I love how thin it is compared to the IPhone ( 1'st gen or 3G )

I will keep my touch. Mainly because the only GSM cell network in Canada that can handle the iPhone in Canada (Rogers) has very limited coverage in the areas I travel and no coverage in my home town.

I agree. I got a Touch because I wanted the functionality. I don't need an iPhone. I already have a phone from my work (they're NOT using iPhones). I'm not bashing them, I'm sure they are great phones, but I don't need one and I'm not planning to "upgrade" to one.

I actually plan on getting the phone and keeping my iPod touch. The touch will have my primary music library, and I can use the space on the iPhone for movies, etc. I rarely use my iPod anywhere but the car, so this will work out well for me.

But i have just been on the O2 website which is the company selling the iphone in the UK, and they said that the iphone could be on pay as you go (not sure if thats what you call it in the US) If this is true i will defenitly get an iphone seeing as my current sony phone is dead

don't understand the fuss about the 3g announcement.

3G is very patchy here in the UK - fine for big towns and cities, non-existant elsewhere IME.
3G is expensive - very expensive.

I have a 3g phone already: Nokia N95.. don't think I've ever used 3G. There's never been a time when I've needed to dial the internet THAT badly, that I can't get to a coffee shop (with wifi) or wait until I get home.

So don't really see what the fuss is about.

I use my touch to play music, I use my phone to make calls, sat nav, track my running, sync with google calendar, take video and photos.

My phone is alrady better than 3g iphones IMO so I'll still with my music player :)
