Back to Bluetooth. The iPhone's Bluetooth is pretty worthless besides using for handsfree. Perhaps with the SDK though we will see some more creativity.

Yes, back to Bluetooth. Let's try to keep these threads on-topic and not let them degenerate into flame wars. The irrelevant posts have been removed.
On the topic of Bluetooth, the iPhone supports only the headset and handsfree profiles, intended for pairing with a audio device for phone calls. There is no support for stereo Bluetooth (A2DP) profiles, and no audio playback will go through the headset outside of the actual phone application. The bottom line is that it's for a wireless headset -- period.
You may be able to pair the iPhone with other Bluetooth devices, but you won't be able to do anything with it, since it does not support any of the profiles required for things like file transfer or serial port use.
Unfortunately, it is unlikely we will see this changed in the SDK. Bluetooth profiles are a low-level feature requiring driver support/modifications, and the SDK is not likely to allow access to these aspects of the iPhone OS.

So, if I'm understanding correctly, the iphone won't allow a fella to be riding a bicycle and have a bluetooth that would play music and interrupt when a phone call arrives. I am currently on 30 day start with a Blackberry Curve 8330 and it will allow me to do so. I am thinking of giving up the Blackberry for the new iphone 3G but would like to be able to do my workouts with some music and the ability to retrieve phone calls as they come in. Don't want to carry two devices (ipod and iphone).

Well, not via Bluetooth itself, since music won't play back through the actual Bluetooth headset -- it is only used for phone calls.
However, if you're content to use a wired headset, the iPhone will play both music and phone call audio through the headphone port. The headset included with the iPhone as well as a number of good after-market headsets include an in-line mic for making and receiving phone calls using the wired headset.
The Blackberry Curve 8330 will allow you to do this using the Bluetooth A2DP capabilities, but depending upon where you are using the device and how concerned you are about sound quality, you may find the A2DP support to be of a much lower quality than you would prefer. "Good cassette quality" has been described as about the best you're likely to get out of it, and beyond that it's still subject to interference.

You know... I have to admit that I was REALLY disappointed that the iPhone wouldn't support A2DP, almost to the point that I wasn't going to purchase one. Since then, however, I've actually realized that the earbuds that come with it are more than good enough. Not only are they REALLy clear, the mic on them is REALLy awesome. Even better than that, I found that I can plug them directly into the hearing protection I use... so I rarely even bother to pull out my bluetooth earpiece.

I recently purchased the Jawbone II which is supposedly one of the best bluetooth headsets on the market right now. It works OK, but I still have found that the apple ear buds are hands down the best to use with the iphone. You can answer calls on the go with the music fading out, they aren't in ear so you can still interact with your surroundings, and they don't drain the battery. What's not to like?

And where did u hear that?
I thought so once I heard it on a Radio Show, the guy made it sound like the best thing since sliced bread, then of course I got on the web and looked for reviews, and it turned out it's 50/50. The tally doesn't exactly suggest what first suggested. U got the whole Internet now at your fingertip, it would be unwise not to seek multiple opinions b4r purchasing.

I've always had the internet at my fingertips Bob. The point of my post was to shed light on the fact that even high end devices sometimes don't surpass even the most basic of options.

Lol, this made me chuckle. You correct someones spelling, then proceed to right 'file no work', 'coz', 'iPhone no support', 'xfer'.

Well, the headset actually works really well with the iphone. My only issues with it are that in order for the noise assasin technology to work properly you MUST have the little rubber vibrator piece touching your jaw. This seems simple, but sometimes it is difficult to get it to stay touching your jaw bone.
Also, the battery is a little sub par for a $130 headset. I make it sound pretty bad i'm sure, but at the same time it is probably the best bluetooth headset I have ever used.
I enjoy the light weight, sleek looks, quick charge, and everything else about it. I have the black one BTW.
