single ear headset

there are some times where having both ears covered with headphones isn't practical or wanted. i didn't want to use the included headset and just let the other ear bud dangle. i though that this adapter from radio shack (http://tinyurl.com/4brrtm) would allow me to use my old cellphone's headset work with my iphone. however, i could not hear anything if i played music from my iphone.

does anyone know of a adapter or even a standalone headset that would work?

I've ran into the same problem and couldn't find anything to help... So i took a pair of old earbuds (That came with an old ipod - with one ear dead) and cut the dead one off. Now the remaining headphone has some static whenever i try to listen with them.. So don't try that ;)

thanks for the head's up. i think if i could just find the right adapter, i'll be in good shape. radio shack has another adapter (http://tinyurl.com/4cx2eo) that i hope will work.

that one worked! the 274-397 allows a a cellphone headset to work as a single ear headphone. the bonus is that the headset's mic still works.
