When I join the wifi network in my house, the little E icon doesn't change to a wireless icon like it used to. I restored my phone, but it still does it. When I go into settings, though, it says it's connected.

Anyone experiencing the same issue?

The WiFi icon won't come up immediately when you join a wireless network... It often doesn't change over until you actually try to surf, check your e-mail, or otherwise transfer data with the iPhone.

When the iPhone goes to sleep, it will also often revert to EDGE, and then take a minute or two to pick up the WiFi access point again, once you start surfing or check your e-mail.

Bear in mind also that just because you're joined to a WiFi access point, you may not be getting an Internet-accessible address. In this case, the iPhone will stay in EDGE mode, since it can't connect to the Internet via WiFi (it may have a connection to the access point, but not necessarily to the Internet). This shouldn't normally be a problem with a home WiFi access point unless your Internet connection is down, but it can sometimes happen with certain public-access WiFi hotspots that aren't properly configured.

Here is what really going on. First of all this has nothing to do with the fact if your iPhone is jailbroken or not. Your edge symbol doesn't change because there is a problem n your wifi which prevents your iPhone from trully joining. iPhone can be connected to a network and even have an ip address, but it will still use edge if there is a connection issue on your wifi network.

I know the symbol won't change immediately, and I understand that the connection must have an internet connection, too. It was my home Wi-Fi and it was working perfectly at the time.
