I know some members have been trying to hit this sale and an AT&T sales channel just sent out an email.
The gist of it is that AT&T will be launching another iPhone Refurb sale. iPhones are now sold out and are on back-order online. However, you will be able to purchase a refurbished iPhone online at AT&T for only $250 (the email said that it is via a linkshare affiliate only, however, I don't know if that is accurate or just hype for the linkshare people). This promotion is valid from Wednesday, May 14th through Friday, May 16th (while supplies last).
If the direct method of getting to the AT&T refurb store doesn't work for the sale, visit ye olde techound1's blog (http://www.otechs.com/blog/?p=308) for said link.

Somebody on MR reported being able to talk their way around it, but I don't know the details. Perhaps they were already an ATT customer??

Oooh, I just answered my own question. ;)
I live in a place where ATT doesn't have service, but was able to order one without a plan (and sent to my location) by entering a zip for another state. Onward to a $250 adventure!

tachound do you plan to just use it as an iPod then or do you really have service in your area?

I live in the only state in the nation with no ATT service (huzzah). They rent towers from somebody so that you CAN get reception on an ATT phone along the interstate (read on the way to the ski hills), but they don't allow new plans with addresses in the state. My plan (no pun intended there) is to enter the world of iPhone hacking. If I really mess it up, I'll have a nice iPod that once could be used as a phone.:D

i picked up a 16gb this time. Last time they only offered the 8gb and as soon as i got it i unlocked it and sold it for $400. I think I may do the same with the 16gb.
if you read on the site, it says a 2 year contract is required when you activate it thru itunes. as long as you unlock it first, not contract will happen.
checked this morning and they were already sold out. same thing happened last time, 1 day and they were gone. i check the site every day to see if they have them up.

They sold out within 10 hours - I suspect a lot of people are doing the unlock and resell bit to make some cash. Buzz is that this is the last batch before the 3Gs.

I'm also waiting for the 3G iphone to drop soon, but just to check it out I used the special link not this morning, but yesterday morning, and they were already sold out. I thought they just weren't released onto the website yet, but I guess not. those things move insanely quick.
u guys think the actual look/form factor of the iphone will change much? I'm praying it doesn't cause the first iphone is just absolutely beautiful. wether they were fake or not, I kinda had mixed feelings lookin at the pics of that iphone black a few days ago. blehhh..

I dunno... Speck has all there current iphone cases at half price, which makes me think they don't want to get stuck with a ton of stock. There's a $5 off coupon here (http://www.otechs.com/blog/?p=326), which stacks with the half off if anybody with the "old" (current ;) ) style wants to grab a deal...
