Ok I have over 35 gb of music in a music directory with subfolders dedicated to artists albums. I receive my ipod on Tuesday and was experimenting with ephpod last night. I noticed that when you add files and directories using the ephpod client the mp3s are copied over and space on your hard drive diminishes. Does this mean in order to have a mp3 library on your ipod, you have to make another library of mp3s on your harddrive wasting more space? This may sound like a trivial question to some but can someone please enlighten me. Thanks

That surely is not the case and I don't know how I could help you with that. :D
If you don't have your ipod yet, I assume you chose a drive on your computer when Ephpod asked where your ipod was. So yes, when you load MP3s, it's going to just duplicate them on yoru computer (on to that drive).
When you get your ipod, the MP3s will be copied there instead.

ephpod copies your mp3?s to your ipod. you don?t need to create a new folder. the size of your music collection will stay the same on your computer.

No shanaynay, ephpod doesn't create duplicates on your PC, but I think I understand what you're getting at because you have a library that is bigger than what will fit on your iPod. So, you have the option of splitting up your library of tunes into 2 folders, one for tunes that will go on the iPod and one for tunes that won't. Or, if you want to maintain your library all in one folder, you'd have to create a second folder w/the tunes you want on your iPod and create copies of those tunes that you want on the iPod.
Either solution is icky in my view. Note, this only applies if you want to do syncing.
Might want to check out MC9 or Xplay. From these you can sync off playlists or smartlists. Makes life much easier.
Check out the Software Compendium (http://ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2286) for a list of the programs out there and how they work.
