Just thought I would post this because there are a lot of new people, like myself, who either don't know how to Jailbreak or have problems doing so. This is not an offical guide, it is something written by myself as I jailbreaked my iTouch the other night and had a problem so read on if you want....

First thing is to download and install Zipphone. (http://download.ziphone.org/)

Once that is done look and see what FW (firmware) you are running. Plug your ipod into your pc and have a look on itunes, it should be 1.1.4. If so make a backup of everything on your ipod to your pc.

Once done, reset your ipod using itunes by clicking on "Restore".

Once this is done, run the Ziphone you have just downloaded. You will see a box with a few options on the left. The second option is "Jailbreak". Do not click on anything else.

That should start the ball rolling and your ipod will display a lot of text on the screen. Once it is all done it should reset your ipod. If not restart it manually and you will see on the ipod a few new icons. Click on "Installer" and have a good look around! It is done!!!

I done this the other night and ran into a problem. I just downloaded Zipphone and ran it straight onto my ipod without restoring the ipod. This made the programme 'Hang' saying it could not find a certain file and nothing could make it go!!! Panicked a bit and held the on/off button the same time as the Menu button for a few seconds and this restarted it but it went back to where it was stuck. Make sure you hold them both together until the ipod restarts normally. Once done "Restore" the ipod then use your Jailbreak programme and it will work! Once it is done you will have to reload all your music/vids/pictures etc back on to the ipod by synching it.

There are some amazing programmes out there for the ipod and now you have it Jailbroken you can enjoy them all. My personal favourite is the Drum Machine from Moo Cow Music. http://moocowmusic.com/Drummer/

Hope this helps a few people. :)

You shouldn't have to restore your iPod at all.

Only do so if you have a problem.

This saves people the 170MB download that may not be necessary

Before or after the jailbreak as mine wouldn't do it until the ipod had been restored and ran a treat then.

Ziphone is bad news, ***don't use it***.

It uses a hard coded MAC address for the wifi, so yours will be the same as everyone else who uses Ziphone. Imagine what that will be like when you're trying to use it at a wifi hotspot.

Thanks for the advice!!!!! Bit late like!!

As for it being ***bad news*** just because you might be in the same place as someone else with a jailbroken itouch then I guess I can live with that :D
