earphone cable lengths

Hi

I currently have the earbuds without the remote on but wish to purchase the remote at some point in the future can somebody tell me if the length of the cable on its own is the same as the earphones section that comes with the remote, if so i'm affraid the overall (remote section plus earphone section) may be too much.

basically does the overall cable length of remote and earphones equal the length of the earphones cable that comes with the 10/15gb 3Gs?

The remote is 36" long. It definitely is too long when you combine them. Sennheiser makes a version of their highly rated MX400 earbuds with a shorter cable for just this kind of thing. That model is called the MX400C. The 400's are $13 so I would think the 400C would be about the same but probably harder to find.
