Hello!

I have just purchased a new Ipod Touch from the online apple store. Very pleased with it except for one minor detail, it can not sync with outlook 2007!

What I want to do is simple, sync my contacts and calendar on the touch with my outlook 2007.

The problem is that this is simply not working, I can choose "Outlook" in the drop down menus under info in Itunes and it says it syncs but nothing actually happens.

The contacts are a minor problem which I solved by using the windows adress book to sync with instead. This is not something that I am pleased with, but at least it works.

But the calendar problem remains unsolved, it can only sync through outlook. I have tried solving this by uninstalling Itunes and quicktime and remove all COM-plugins in Outlook associated with Itunes, then reboot and reinstall Itunes. This did not work.

The really strange part is that I can sync my Nano (3g) with outlook 2007 without any problems, both contacts and calendar. However Itunes does not give me the option to sync with "Outlook" as the touch do, but rather the Nano syncs with "Microsoft Outlook" Why two different names for the same software? Also, when I sync my nano with outlook, outlook starts automatically if it's not running already.

My computer is an old laptop PC with windows xp.

What can I do to solve this? I really want to have my calendar on the touch.

Have you resolved this problem, I am having the same issue. Just so you know I got the contacts to sync by making sure you have no other version of outlook. Outlook 2007 will not run with any other version of outlook running, I had outlook express and deleted that it worked perfect, I just cant get the calendar to sync. Please let me know if you finally got the calendar to work. Thanks

Problem solved!

It took several hours and was really very difficult, but at last i can sync my calendar!

1. Had to format my computer, it was just to much junk and stuff that was connected to each other in all kinds of ways...took 1 hour because i didn't do it right at first.

2. Install all programs that I wanted, inc Itunes and Outlook. Took one hour (LOTS of updates)

3. Remove Outlook express!!! The most difficult thing I have ever done with a computer! It's so hard to do this that it's stupid! STUPID I TELL YOU! Wtf is wrong with microsoft that makes it so extremly difficult to remove this? Made me angry as...you know  I am not going to write this down, but rather direct you to this website that gives directions:

This took me 2 HOURS! Granted, I am not a computer genius, but I am not computer illiterate either.

4. Crossed my thumbs and plugged in Ipod Touch. Everything worked and the household was filled with joy and laughter again :D

Hey Cessna!

I thought about you and your problem, I think I know how to solve it.

You need to follow these steps in this order! Do it when you have a lot of spare time, it takes a long time to do all these steps.

1. Uninstall outlook express using the method described in my above post (the link)

2. Uninstall Itunes AND Quicktime (Don't worry, your music will be unaffected and your podcast are saved in a list of some kind)

3. Open outlook and locate something called COM addons, remove all that are connected to Itunes

4. Shut down your pc and turn it on again

5. Download Itunes and install it.

6. Connect your touch, it should work now.

I solved the problem as was described by one of the members. I removed Express and problem solved. I can't believe they make you go through so much to delete a program. Wow. My other problem was that I was using Outlook 2000 at first and iTouch wont work with 2000, only 2003 and 2007.

No, sorry. The problem is that you have to remove outlook express wich takes a really long time and is really difficult. I think if you just follow the steps I gave cessna in this thread it should work for you too. But it is really diificult and takes several hours...I really wish there was an easier way.
