I have for the last view days been getting the message that my iphone (althought it really is a touch) cannot be recognized.
It works on all the other PC's ive tried it on
Its not the cable, ive tried 3
I have put it in recovery mode
Reinstalled itunes (4 times)
Done the 5 R's
Been into the drivers, support and management menus, everything is as it should be.

I think its since I last updated my ipod, on my stepdads ipod, and now it doesnt work on mine.

I have also restored it to its factory settings though.
Im not a computer techie, so any suggestions, could you 'dumb down' a bit?

Thanks,
Alex

EDIT: Using windows vista :)

Try using the USB ports at the back of the computer.

If that doesn't work, I recommend that you Backup the computer, and then format your hard drive and reinstall your version of Windows Vista.

or just keep trying to unplug and then replug in your touch..

Mine does this all the damn time... just unplug it from pc... wait for afew seconds.. then plug it back it in.. may take several tries but should work.

unless your copy of vista has suffered from the bug in Windows Defender update: an update a month or so ago screwed up vista's ability to handle some usb devices... microsoft seem unable to make a fix for it (my mouse now only work in one usb socket)

God, vista is just the worst OS m$ have ever made... (even worse than Window ME!)

Have you read the posts about installing a USB PCI card and using that to connect & sync? Might want to give that a shot...
