I don't have an Ipod touch yet and i figure ill have one by June, should i just use that STK thing they're talking about in release in June or should I jailbreak it? I don't even know what I would Jailbreak it for because im not sure what i'd use besides an AIM program would be nice. Can i just expect most of the stuff to be out for the touch w/ that STK(im a noob to that i dont even really know what it is) thing or should i jailbreak it? Mind you i probably wont have it until mid June-ish maybe a little earlier. Thanks!

If you want to mess with Jailbreaking, then go for it.
You can always re-install the firmware and wipe out the Jailbreaking if you don't like the results.

The whole Jailbreak community is an interesting thing to observe. And it's fun to see what they produce.

I like to error on the side of caution, I would wait as I'm sure Apple know that the everyone else is working on better toys and will have to keep improving to stay ahead.

I got my Touch for Christmas and thought about Jailbreaking it after a couple of months. I didn't though as I wasn't too sure what it would do, I listened to peoples comments on how they 'thought' they had bricked their Touch. I then decided to go for it and haven't regretted it. As previous posters have mentioned the Jailbreak community come out with some fun stuff and are showcasing what it can do before Apple get around to it and charging us for the privilege.

Give it a go - if you don't like it just restore it back.

OK, for your benefit, CSWert92, I will talk slightly about the SDK. (not STK, but I can understand the confusion with that :D)

The iPhone SDK, or Software Development Kit, is a set of tools for developers to create applications that run natively on your iPod Touch or iPhone. This means that they are on your iPod just like the Music app is, or just like iTunes is on your computer. Its always there.

These Applications have a unique way of being distributed. They will be done like songs are, downloaded to iTunes and synced to your device, or downloaded on the device itself and installed remotely.

These Applications can be bought, or there are going to be free ones.

There are going to be games, programs to help you at school (like a periodic table or something) and anything you can think of.

These programs can provide videos, audio, and can access the internet. They can use the Wifi connection, and can access the Photos application already on the device, and they can use the accellerometer, and other sensors.

There are some limitations, for example the dock connector is off limits, etc. and porn apps, bandwidth hogs, viruses and all that cannot be put onto the device. Apple will very strongly policing these terms, especially the viruses.
