I've spent days trying to find a decent video converter that doesnt demand you register immediately before you can use it even once, and after I finally found a demo for one, I tried it out and was able to convert three different avi files easily. So I went ahead and bought it. However, once I tried to convert several Xvid files to an iPod friendly filetype with the same program (tried both .mp4 and .mov) it keeps telling me that the iPod cant play them. This really sucks especially since I already spent 28 dollars buying this program, only to find out that the iPod probably won't be able to play 90% of the movie files I have which are Xvid. But why would it still be a problem even if they WERE Xvid since im converting them to an iPod friendly filetype? Please help someone :(

There are many, many threads on file conversion, but I use a program called "Super". It's free, no registration necessary, and fairly simple to use. I think "Videora" is another converter that is fairly popular around here. I haven't used it myself, as I'm pretty happy with the first one.

But as for your current problem, knowing what program you're trying to use would help us. Have you tried contacting their customer support? Or maybe they have a troubleshooting FAQ on their website? Will iTunes accept the files into your library? Will they play in iTunes on your computer?
