something awful has happened, my headphone jack appears to have unsoldered itself from the pcb.
i know this cos there is no sound, and it's moving around inside the case.
(on a side note, sometimes when i plug headphones into it, it shorts the battery, it says it's dead when its full, this has only been happening since the jack went)
unfortunately the unit is second hand, so i don;t know the date of purchase, but as it's a touchwheel 2nd gen, it *must* still be under warranty right?
here are my options:
1. try it with apple tomorrow see what tehy say (it's not the same problem as when the plastic on the jack breaks, it's an actual internal component failure, shoddy soldering etc)
2. contact a local electronics store see if they can fix it
3. my dad "knows some guy" who works doing microsoldering in the aerospace industry, so he *may* be able to take a look at it.
4. take it to my local john lewis, say it was a present (hence why i have no receipt) and try and get an exchange on it there. ihear john lewis are *very good* with replacments, a kinda no qestions asked thing. people who have experience with john lewis, how strict are they with needing a reciept?
what do you guys reckon i should do?
