I recently purchased a 16G iPod Touch, after getting it home and doing some reading I realized it was set up to run on a MAC. After reading I understand that if I restore the iPod it will work with a PC. Reading further, to restore it, it has to connect to ITunes. I have the latest ver of Itunes and the iPod has the latest update. My problem is ITunes does not recognize the iPod to allow me to restore it. Will a MAC configured iPod connect with the Windows ITunes? IF not I can quit trying. My son has a MAC, I can have him restore it for me. Thank you. Help!!!!

The iPod Touch is not setup to run specifically on the Mac or Windows - it runs out of the box on both. You're having issues with your connection -- your son can configure it with his Mac, but you'll ultimately need to get it connected to your PC. Read the forums and search Apple's site for troubleshooting on how to connect your iPod Touch to iTunes in Windows...

Well, I had my son restore my IPT, everything seemed to work fine with his MAC. When I try to connect with my PC, same problem. Cannot connect. I notice in my device manager when the IPT is on I get the connection via USB, but right clicking on the USB icon it says I do not have the Apple Mobile device driver install. When I proceed it ask me to insert the setup disk which I do not have. where do I get the Mobile device driver? It seems that may be my problem. HELP

Like I said, ultimately, it's a connection problem you'll have to address. Sounds like you need to reinstall iTunes -- go to http://www.apple.com/itunes and download the latest version for Windows and install it. More troubleshooting including information on the steps Apple recommends can be found here -- http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/troubleshooting/

Thanks for the help. You were partially right. I had to reinstall itunes, quicktime and itunes updates. Then everything worked. Thanks very much.
