I know NBC pulled their shows a while ago, but I was browsing the store today and noticed that the new episodes of scrubs and my name is earl is on there! Did I miss some announcement a while ago announcing NBC's return? Are these just left overs from the previous contract? Or is this foreshadowing NBC's return to iTunes?

read this old news: NBC Back on Itunes ? (http://ilounge.com/index.php/news/comments/nbc-to-return-to-itunes-store/)
Probably they finally managed to reach the agreement...
Ciao.

Actually, I don't think they've reached any kind of agreement yet, and the previous news was little more than just rumours.... They seemed to be on friendlier terms, but who knows if they're even back at the table.
However, only shows that were produced by NBC were ever affected. Further, it wasn't just new episode releases -- everything from NBC was pulled off outright at the end of the agreement -- even the back catalogue of content.
Note that this never affected shows produced by other studios/networks and merely aired on NBC. TV shows are distributed under Apple's agreement with the company that actually produces/owns the shows (which is not NBC in these cases). "My Name is Earl" for instance, is actually 20th Century Fox, and merely airs on NBC stations, so it was never pulled, and I guess now that the writer's strike is over, new episodes are starting to show up. Shows like Scrubs, Chuck, and Journeyman all fit into similar categories, and therefore continued to be available on iTunes even after the NBC agreement expired, with even new episodes showing up in some cases.
On the other hand, Battlestar Galactica, even though it airs on SciFi, is produced by NBC Universal, and is therefore no longer available. :(
