A very interesting look into a programmer's thoughts and the SDK. If you know of the famous Piano, Guitar, and Drum apps, then you have heard of Moo-Cow-Music.

SDK is making people very greedy. :(

Seriously what did you expect? I'm sure these guys aren't rich, so naturally some of these guys are going to get greedy. It's too bad when people get taken advantaged of in that way, but hopefully the end users that enjoyed his work will band together and boycott that guy. I know on youtube someone posted a video about his xbox being stolen and bunch of strangers got together to harass the guy who did it.
I also don't think charging for apps that were previously free is being greedy though.

Well, the poor guy encountered an a'hole.
Such is life. I wish him well.
I really don't see anything wrong with apps having a micro-price. A few bucks to the developer, considering I'd pay more for a friggin Big Mac, Coke and Fries, seems quite reasonable. Give the devs something back for their efforts.

sucks, but I mean that's just a stupid a**face who ripped him off, it hasn't really anything to do with the SDK.
of course the SDK will change the application market. big companies will join and make really advanced stuff the normal hobby-developer will never be able to. and a lot of thing the hobby-developer makes will probably cost a dollar or something and will not be free (I mean in the end those guys payed at least $99 to be able to sell the apps ...) but in return I guess we'll see a lot of great new, fast and nice apps.

I am not going to pay kids to make me some crappy applications. I am going to pay cpmanies (like EA) for great games like Super Monkey Ball. Not many applications on the indtaller are worth buying, or having.

Maybe you should have read the ENTIRE board - including the follow up thread where he states that he's continuing to release... http://moocowmusic.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1206702426
And so I ended up thinking that why should I let some selfish individual prevent me from continuing to make people (and myself) happy.
Next time read before you post inflammatory stuff - MooCow is a GOOD guy...
Oh, and Pianist, Guitarist, and Drummer are not some "crappy" applications - they're very well done and professional. And who said EA can't put out a crappy application?
And I honestly don't think there's a big deal as long as they're priced appropriately. I mean with 100,000 downloads already, why not charge $2-5 per person and you know make a living off what you enjoy?
Stay Alive, you must remember that the SDK allows hobby users to "Polish" their applications, so they are just as good as a major developer.
Instruments for iPhone was announced to be with the SDK, and Instruments allows you to develop and test your application for optimal performance on iPhone.
Companies win because they have people dedicated to their job and they are trained in it. They build their programs way faster, and have more complicated and immersive games.
Your right, the installer doesn't have much. Thats cos the people who wrote those apps did so as if they were Mac OS X apps - and treated them as such. These apps are nothing like desktop apps like that... they use totally different coding conversions.
