Anyone else have a problem with getting kicked out of safari and back into the home screen? I will be surfing the net sometimes and all the sudden it'll take a long time to load and then back me out of safari. Glitch maybe?

It's Safari crashing.
Newer firmware Safaris are more stable that older ones.

So I assume just update it? When was the last update? the ipod I have is a 1.5 week old 32gb touch...i assumed the latest software was pre-installed.

It probably is up to date. iTunes would be asking you to update if it wasn't.
Maybe it's a particular site that Safari just can't handle.

Either a particular website or a combination of Safari and Music, perhaps. Wish Apple had a reporting function like desktop web browsers have...

your not the only one with that issue. My 8 gig with 1.1.4 and new apps does it at least once a day. Use it about two hours a day.

Yep, I get the same thing. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to the site I am on at the time and I am often not doing anything else at the same time. It's just a software bug and will doubtless get rectified at some point.
I actually get it more frequntly under the latest firmware than under previous ones.
