differences in us and uk ipod touch

I heard that there is a EU legislation limiting the volume on mp3 players, so the ipod touch bought in europe will have lower volume than a US one. is this true? i bought an ipod touch 32gb model from ebay so i have no idea what version it is, i compared it with my 4th generation 20gb black & white screen ipod and it sounds identical. any thoughts? does any have a known eu version to compare.

Yes, it's true. Search the forums for more information. Law prohibits them to play over (if I remember correctly) 100db. However, there is a hack that allows you to remove the limitation. Again, search for more information...
