a few questions about the ipod touch.
how many versions are there? sum of the uk shops are selling two versions, the original and the new software upgrade one. is there any difference between the one with the new software in and the £12 upgrade from apple of the original? bcos there is a difference of £40 between the original and the new software one, so was just wondering if its just exactly the same as getting the upgrade from apple and the shops are just trying to make money out of it?
i hope that makes sense !

I presume you're referring to the 8GB version.
I can only find such a price difference at Currys. It maybe a mistake on their site, but if not go get one! You might as well then upgrade through iTunes for £12.
I bought mine from Currys in Feb for £186 (there was a price drop of £13 to allow for you to upgrade without losing money).
The touch's still seem to be retailing at £185 without new apps and £199 with, on most sites.
As I say, if Currys have really dropped their price so much, then get yourself over there fast!

yeah thats where i saw the price difference, in currys. i thought because of the massive difference in price that there was another difference, other than the upgrade u can purchase for £12 from apple. so if i get the £159 one and upgrade for £12, is this then the exact equivelent of the £199 one?
thanks for your reply!

You are correct. The only difference is that the higher priced models run the newer firmware and come with those applications. Well, you can update the firmware for free and purchase the applications. Everything is the same when it comes down to the hardware so you might was well go with the 159 unit and pay 12 which means your overall cost will be cheaper than spending 199 to begin with. You save money and get the exact same product.

iTunes will let you know when your iPod touch's firmware needs updated for free. It will then download the latest firmware and install it on your iPod touch. The YouTube service lets you watch nearly every video (or maybe every video) that is on the website. YouTube is working with Apple so that videos are encoded to the mpeg-4 AVC video format and stored on YouTube's servers. This allows the iPod touch, iPhone, and Apple TV to access YouTube videos. I don't think that every video can be viewed though but most should be on there. You won't have full access like the website though and Safari is not compatible with Flash which means that right now, you simply cannot get full YouTube service. The app helps but it isn't 100%.

where do i get the download from?
From within iTunes, just go to the iTunes store and purchase from there. The new apps install almost instantly.
