Hi,
I'm shortly off to visit the States, (I live in the UK) taking in NYC while there and thought I'd treat myself to a look around the Fifth Avenue Apple store and maybe buy an iPod Touch 32Gb as a special treat.:)
Does anyone know of any issues I need to be aware of when using one in the UK - I'm guessing Wi-Fi isn't going to be an issue, but are there differences in the s/w between US and UK/Europe models? Or any other known problems? :o
In other words am I likely to be shooting myself in the foot for the sake of saving a few quid?
Cheers,
nelly

Have done this myself. Had some friends going to Canada so got them to bring 32Gb Touch back for me.
Bought from a Bestbuys.
No issues to report to date and saved quite a bit of money too :-)
Best of luck

There shouldn't be any difference in them as said before.

The only problem you may have is not knowing what to do with the extra 80 quid.

The short answer is yes. There are no differences in the actual hardware themselves, and any iPod can download music from any iTunes Store, subject to wherever your iTunes Store account is located.
The only differences may be in the packaging, and of course for those devices that include power adapters they will of course be specific to that country's power system. These days, however, I believe only the iPhone still comes with a power adapter in the box.

I heard that there is a EU legislation limiting the volume on mp3 players, so the ipod touch bought in europe will have lower volume than a US one. is this true? i bought an ipod touch 32gb model from ebay so i have no idea what version it is, i compared it with my 4th generation 20gb black & white screen ipod and it sounds identical. any thoughts?

And even then its only the actual pin arrangement that varies - most adaptors these days work on anything from 100 to 240 volts at 50 or 60 Hz.

Cheers people. Good to hear that I should have no problems. And I certainly won't have difficulty with the left over £80!!
