Yes, you're USB ports have to be 2.0. Are your USB ports 2.0 USB Ports?

How old is your pc? Most pc's with Windows XP and Vista have 2.0 USB ports. By the way, you also need XP or Vista to use the iPod touch.

Mine works just fine on USB 1.1. You may have problems on 1.0 though.

Try it on another PC with USB 2 to be sure then buy yourself a PCI expansion card to give your PC USB 2.

If I remember correctly, you can verify if you have USB 2.0 ports from within XP. Right click on My Computer. Select Properties. Select the Hardware tab. Select Device Manager. Scroll down to the button where Universal Serial Bus is listed and click on the [+] to expand it. If you have USB 2.0, it should say "Enhanced", otherwise you should have USB 1.1 or 1.0...
