I just have this issue yesterday that my itouch my turn off automatically after few minutes. I have to hold the top and front button together for few mins to start it again. Also it still run when i play music or some programe, but if i close everything. It will turn off totally.
Can any body know how to fix it?

are you sure its not just sleeping? if it is not, try to restore it and if that doesn't help get a new one from apple.
